The Rules of the Bar

Now feels like as good a time as any to put in writing the house rules of Rhinestone.

For as long as we can remember, there has been a golden rule in bars that has allowed them to be a bastion of escape from the troubles of the world. No Religion, No Politics. When we started Rhinestone, we wanted this to be that kind of space. A space where all are welcome, and we can bring some fun and joy to the people while they spend some time with us, and turn off the outside noise for just a little while.

Unfortunately, times have changed. In the face of a regime that is set on dehumanizing our neighbors and the shocking and unprecedented abuses of power and violence, we feel the need to set forth a new rule.

No Politics, No Religion, No Nazis.

Separating parents from their children and children from their families, kidnapping people and placing them in detention centers, and murdering people in cold blood in our streets is NOT POLITICS. These are the actions of people who deem others as less than, and who believe in authoritarianism and fascism, AKA Nazi shit, and we will have none of that in our bar.

We are going to be here for our community, come thick or thin, and for us, that means we will remain open on today, January 30th. We support everyone's decision to participate in the general strike; however feels best for them. As a brand new small business, we are going to take this opportunity to be the neighborhood spot we've always wanted to be, and be available for anyone who needs a bite, for those who will be marching against ICE and this cruel regime and need a drink after, and for our staff who rely on us to help them earn a living.

We will be serving our Double Decker Mom Tacos for this one Friday, and we will be donating all the proceeds to the Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition as another way we can show our support.

This bar is a place for cocktails, Crunch Wraps, good times, and Colt 45s, so leave the bullshit at the door, and in case this isn't clear enough for anyone:

FUCK ICE.
