February 23rd is Our Pop Up Anniversary! Let’s Celebrate!

We made it. Our very first anniversary. And we can’t wait to see what’s in store for us next. But sometimes, in order to look forward, you have to take a moment to look back.

Rhinestone wasn’t born inside these brick-and-mortar walls; that’s only four months of our story. Rhinestone as a concept, a collaboration—as a dream—was born one year ago, at a pop-up at a bar off Burnside.

So we give a massive, wholehearted THANK YOU to our friends at Too Soon. A year ago, they opened their doors to us to host the very first Rhinestone Pop-Up. That night was electric. People packed in from all corners of Portland, listening to twangy music, getting loud, and eating and drinking til’ we sold the damn thing out.

That first pop-up proved to us that Portland was hungry for what we wanted to build: a place with no pretense, good music, great people, and endless crunchwraps. That pop-up was the stepping stone to gathering our resources, putting our heads together, and laying down roots.

So obviously, we’re throwing a big ‘ole party on February 23rd to celebrate.

Okay, so usually the last Monday of the month is our service industry night, where we tip our hats and fill the glasses of all the hard-working folks who keep Portland fed and watered. Don’t worry, they’re still the guests of honor. But we’re switching up the vibe.

This Monday, on our very first anniversary, we’re looking back even farther to a time with great synths and even better fashion, the eighties! Think Depeche Mode meets New Order in a bar and does shots with The Misfits.

And of course, we can’t have a party without party favors.

  • We’re releasing a Limited Edition Anniversary T-Shirt, with a specially commissioned, unique design just for our anniversary.

  • Our friend Nick Flower, the co-owner of Too Soon is bartending: a curated selection of his favorite modern/classic Fernet cocktails. Nick has a soft spot for loud rooms and low lighting, and prefers things scrappy over shiny.

  • Hailey Schaumberg from Oddball Tattoo will offer up flash tattoos in the side room.

  • And we'll be giving away Fernet swag along with some of those anniversary shirts.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve been with us since the pop-up days or discovered us last night, we want to celebrate with you. Because you’re part of this. We’re here because of you. And from the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for making Rhinestone more than just a bar—you’ve made it our home.

So let’s get loud. Let's get dressed up. Let’s get a new tattoo! And let’s raise our glasses to a year well done.

See you soon.
